What is Kannapolis’ Risk for Lightning Damage?

1/11/2022 (Permalink)

A map of lightning risk by county Hopefully, this map will shock you so much that lightning never will!

Lightning in January? Eh, it’s possible!

Winter doesn’t oftentimes have thunderstorms, although thundersnow isn’t unheard of!

But we have it on good authority that January will one day end (temporarily), and will transition into warmer weather where thunderstorms will become more common, and lightning will again cause plenty of damage the country-over.

However, not every region of the nation will be equally-susceptible to lightning damage. FEMA has a map of risk of lightning damage in each county, and it can be found here: https://hazards.fema.gov/nri/lightning.

Alternatively, you can peep the pic at the top of this article. The red areas are the most dangerous (but that still doesn’t guarantee you’ll be affected), and the blue areas are the least (but that still doesn’t guarantee you won’t be.)
