Water, water, water

When most of think about water, we think about the clear stuff that comes out of the tap. We don’t think about its destructiveness. We don’t think about:

  • Water is the “universal solvent” because it can dissolve more substances than any other liquid, although not necessarily faster
    • Begins to rust most kinds of metal sooner than you’d guess
    • Shreds paper and insulation
    • Gets absorbed by carpet padding and drywall, so it appears to defy gravity
    • Swells wood
    • Releases fabric dyes that stain carpet, other flooring, furniture
  • It releases and makes more noticeable existing odors in the house
  • May seem to hide as humidity (we have hygrometers) within the structure or belongings
  • Runs through the air ducts
  • Goes to lowest point (gravity isn’t just a good idea; it’s the law)
  • If it comes from rain or other outside sources, it carries microbes, small vegetation, animal waste, and other debris. Yuck right?
  • If the water comes from a burst pipe, it will be only as clean as the surface on which it travels
  • After 24 to 48 hours, microbial growth (such as mold) starts developing

Training in Cleaning, Disinfection, and Restoration from Water Damage

Fortunately, we are trained to:

  • Assess damage from water and microbial growth
  • Clean and disinfect after biohazards (mold, other microbes, all kinds of nastiness, also chemical waste, debris, and everything else)
  • Find damage in places you may not expect
  • Remediate above damage
  • Help restore property (structures, belongings) to preloss conditions
  • And as always, we provide you with updates along the process

Trivia!

The game checkers, or something that looks just like it, is shown in art on the walls of Egyptian tombs.
